Did you know?

As you take on your spring cleaning projects, you can save money and reduce waste by checking our Choose to ReUse shelves before buying new products.

Our shelves are typically filled with a variety of reusable items (selection varies) — including paint, sealants, fertilizers, insecticides, and other household chemicals — all available at no cost through the Choose to ReUse program at MCSWD.

Residents are welcome to browse anytime without an appointment.

If you’re looking to donate usable household chemicals, please schedule an appointment to ensure safe handling.

Give good products a second life and keep hazardous materials out of the landfill.

Learn more about the Choose to ReUse program on our website:

At the Marathon County Solid Waste Department, our team works to make responsible waste disposal simple, safe, and accessible for everyone. And while we celebrate Earth Day today, caring for our environment is something we can all do every day by recycling right, reducing waste, and disposing of the materials we no longer need responsibly.

Thank you for doing your part to care for our community and environment.

🚨County Facility Closures for March 16, Services Available Virtually

Marathon County is prioritizing community and employee safety as a significant winter storm continues to impact travel and local operations. As a result, all Marathon County offices located on the Lake View Campus, the Marathon County Courthouse, and Parks Administration offices will be closed to walk-in public traffic on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Presiding Judge Gregory Strasser has formally ordered the closure of all Marathon County Circuit Courts. All in-person hearings, trials, and court events scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, are cancelled and will be rescheduled. Additionally, any filing deadlines falling on this date will be extended to the next business day.

Although buildings will not be open to the public, County services will remain available by phone and virtual appointment throughout the day. Community members who need assistance are encouraged to contact departments directly. A department phone directory can be found at www.MarathonCounty.gov/departments.
