If you enjoyed getting Gritty with us at this year's first Gritty Leakes Marathons, you may be interested in continuing the challenges through the winter.
Race Team RVA offers the area's only Ultramarathon training team and we're getting ready to start our winter season which trains for the Singletrack Maniac 50k in Williamsburg on April 9. The team offers two coached and supported runs on the weekends, two coach sponsored training runs during the week, coach led strength training exercises, access to our private Facebook group, and great swag.
Whether you're training for your first 50k or are ready to go longer, your coaches are ready to help you hit your goals. Come check us out and join our first run on December 18!

We can't thank Jesse Peters enough for coming out to capture these incredible photos of our athletes. His pictures are always stunning and he managed to really capture the energy of the day.
I wish we could have offered these all free to each runner, but we were determined to keep the registration price low this year. Please show your appreciation to Jesse Peters for being out in that freezing cold all day long getting these spectacular pictures, and purchase your pictures from him. He's very reasonably priced and I think we can all agree that these photos are exceptional!

Thank you Racers again for coming out and getting Gritty with us!
I want to also thank our sponsors who also took a chance on a brand new race but offered great support and some of that amazing swag you took home.
Special thanks to CB Richmond Group for sponsoring our reusable cups that everyone received. Making this a cupless race was high on our wish list from the start and Caitlin Berry's generous support made that happen. She was also out there the entire race day cheering runners and manning the aide station looking after you all through the entire day. Her efforts were a critical part of the day's success.
Thank you to Sundog Eyewear for donating the top Finishers awards. Each of the top three finishers, male and female, in the Half and Full received a pair of their sunglasses. Every athlete received a discount code to use at their online store. As a thank you to them for such generosity, please Like them on social media and check out their website!
Tailwind was kind enough to help us with with the fluid/nutrition for you all. We know that's the preferred solution for so many distance and endurance runners and we were thrilled to be able to have that on course for you. If you haven't used them before, I hope you had a chance to try it on race day. Visit your local running store and purchase some for your next training cycle or race day!
Thank you to the Goochland High School ROTC Color Guard for braving the early hour and freezing temperatures to come out and help us kick off the day on the right foot with the National Anthem and presentation of Old Glory.
The Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery donated those incredible glasses everyone received for Finishing and gave a discount on a fill up so you could celebrate your success. We really wanted to support local companies as much as possible and their willingness to work with us to make your finish as fun as possible AND help them out was ideal. If you didn't take advantage of the chance to visit them on race day, please check them out soon and let them know you're from the race.

Thank you all so much for such an incredible race day yesterday! It was cold, the course was tough, and there were a few small hiccups along the way but our amazing runners with Grit and joyful attitudes made the day spectacular. Every runner who dared Toe the Line of a brand new race focused around the word Gritty deserves all the accolades of bravery and determination.
Our volunteers stood for hours in the freezing cold to help put this race together and support our runners all morning long and we can't possibly thank them enough (I mean...they had hot bacon and quesadillas, right!! :) )
Special thank you to CB Realty for not only sponsoring those great reusable cups everyone received, but for helping mark the course, being out there all day shuttling food and fluids to the aide stations, helping to clean up the course and park afterwards, and for having such great energy through it all.
Thank you to our awards sponsor, Sundog Eyewear for generously donating these spectacular sunglasses for our top Finishers. Practical and gorgeous makes for sweet swag!

Check your emails! Another race update was sent out today with more details about race day and packet pickup options.
Please make every effort to pick up your packet on Friday if at all possible. This will make for a much smoother entry into the park on race morning.
You will need to show your bib to get into the parking lot so do the cars behind you a favor and have your bib ready to show the attendant when you arrive!
You will definitely need a light source for the first couple of miles. Double check your headlamps and put in fresh batteries for race morning, and label yours for easy retrieval after the race (we'll put out a light drop box at the Start/Finish--mile 5 of your run).
Keep your fingers crossed for great weather, and let's get our Grit On!!

Our top three finisher, male and female, Half and Full distance, will earn one of these incredible sunglasses from Sundog Eyewear . I've worn my pair all summer long and they have been the best eye protection I've ever run with. So excited for our top Finishers to earn these on race day!

It's time to Get Gritty!

We are so excited to be so close to the first ever Gritty Leakes Marathons!
Medals have arrived, special Finisher's Swag for our marathoners is inbound, and port-a-potties have been ordered (that's when you know it's real!)
We'll be sending out Athlete information in a series of emails in the next couple of days and weeks so keep checking there for information.
There are a few half marathon slots still open so if you've been holding out on registering, now's the time to secure your place.
If you can't run with us this year but want to see how Gritty this race really is, come volunteer!
