Built in 1858, this stunning Italianate mansion became a beloved community hub when the Woman’s Club purchased it in 1900 — and it’s been thriving ever since.

Is it a cupola or a belvedere? No matter what you call it this feature of the historic Bolling Haxall House has been part of the Richmond skyline 🏙 for generations. Sitting gracefully atop the home of The Woman's Club, the prominent architectural feature is a hallmark of the building's Italianate style.

Originally the tall windows framed views down to the James river and as far as the countryside surrounding the city. Today the view's an urban combination of modern and historic buildings including with both the new CoStar tower as well as the Jefferson and John Marshall Hotels.

(Technically, this is a belvedere because it is large enough to stand inside. A cupola is usually smaller with a rounded or dome top.)😉

🎉 Spring has arrived in full glory at the Bolling Haxall House!
The Dogwood trees are putting on a spectacular show right now — especially on a bright, sunny day like today 🌞.

Did you know? Virginia’s beloved Dogwood was named the state flower in 1918 and the state tree in 1956. It’s almost impossible to imagine Richmond in springtime without these iconic beauties blooming across the city.

Who needs AI or Photoshop when Virginia’s natural splendor makes our Capital City this stunning? ✨

A surprising spring snow ❄didn't slow down work at the Bolling Haxall House this week. Work continues on repairing the 3rd floor chair lift/elevator 🛠 and installing new flooring in our catering kitchen. Stay tuned for more updates.
