Rhinelander Turkey Trot

Rhinelander Turkey Trot Kick off your Thanksgiving Day with the annual 5K Turkey Trot in downtown Rhinelander. The run/walk

11/24/2022

We want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving in 2022! 🍗 We were hopeful that we could continue our Rhinelander Turkey Trot this year, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Over the last year, we had been searching for some entity to help take this race over and continue to run it, either on their own or alongside St. Mark Lutheran Church. But after reaching out to many local groups and non-profits, nobody was willing to do the work to continue the tradition this year. The Rhinelander Turkey Trot may return in the future, but we had to take a break in 2022. If anyone is interested in helping organize future Turkey Trots, please reach out to us. We would just like to maintain the same model whereby 100% of the proceeds go back into the community to help local non-profit organizations during the holiday seasons. God bless!

In this season of giving, we feel extremely blessed to donate 100% of all funds raised from the 2021 Rhinelander Turkey Trot back into our local community! This year, our team was able to present NAMI Northern Lakes and Ruby's on Tuesday each with a check for $1,500, and the Rhinelander Community Foundation/Hodag Park Improvement Fund with a check for $4,130, all on behalf of St. Mark Lutheran Church! Thank you to everyone who trotted with us on Thanksgiving morning, and an extra thank you to all of our generous, community-minded race sponsors. We couldn't do it without you!

Thanks to WJFW Newswatch 12 for stopping out to see us and recapping the 4th Annual Rhinelander Turkey Trot on their evening newscasts today! Side note: They said that we had about 75 participants. They were only short by about 100 participants. 🤦🏽 We actually had 183 registered trotters this morning! Gobble, gobble! 🍗👟

ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨 We have selected three beneficiaries to receive the proceeds from our 4th Annual Rhinelander Turkey Trot. 100% of funds raised from this event will pass through St. Mark Lutheran Church, and then be disbursed to NAMI Northern Lakes, Rhinelander Community Foundation, and Ruby's on Tuesday! Each year our recipient(s) may change, but it will always stay local to help make our community in and around Rhinelander be the very best it can be. Sign up to run and walk with us on Thanksgiving morning to help support these great organizations! https://www.rhinelanderturkeytrot.com/

Thanks to Sierra Whaley and WJFW Newswatch 12 for featuring our informal event on their Thanksgiving Day UpNorth@4 segment! This year, because of rising COVID-19 numbers and gathering restrictions, we decided that holding the event in ANY formal capacity was neither safe nor responsible. We had no registration, no sponsors, no t-shirts, no awards, no restrooms, nothing indoors, and no person-to-person contact of any kind. About as safe and low-key as it gets! And we still collected donations to give to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry! We are still taking online donations through the end of the month at www.rhinelanderturkeytrot.com.
