Center for Creativity shows are the best!

Jamila Rufaro is a native New Yorker who creates mixed media artwork, sculptures and assemblages using discarded materials, ephemera and old books. Descended from enslaved people, her work reflects on forced evacuation and displacement, acknowledging how throughout history, humans have created hostile conditions that compel others to flee.

Jamila Rufaro's work, “Forced Evacuation/Displacement”, is exhibiting as a part of UnPAcked (The Suitcase Project) at the CfC through April 26, 2026.

Fourth-generation Bay Area artist Katinka Hartmetz has lived in Redwood City for 45 years. A founding artist member of the Main Gallery since 2000, she works surrounded by four generations of family art. Spanning plein air, constructivism, and Day of the Dead, her recent abstract paintings — intimate to monumental — are meant to be felt, not decoded.
