Well last nights Readstown Advancement Association Meeting went very well, lots of new and old members attending. The President Cindy Clements, welcomed the All the new members in attendance and proceeded with the business of the Advancement Association, Julie Turnmire gave the Treasury Report, and after the devastating Flood of August 2018, and the Village Clerk, who you thought was working for the “FEMA,” organization and forgot that she was a civil servant for the taxpayers and citizens of Readstown, Wisconsin...She almost ended a 65 year old Organization that has been helping Readstown with the beautiful Tourist park that we have and appreciate very much, she wasn’t very supportive of our Organization! Anyway enough about the past, We aggressively pushed forward as most of us stubborn Readstownite’s and Kickapoogians, and Driftless wonders...accomplished getting the State of Wisconsin to let us completely to remodel our nice building located in the Park! Now we are actively back in business and moving forward with new goals, accomplishing some tasks that need to be addressed and very much happy with the new support and new ideas for our small Village of Readstown! We gave two scholarships out at the last meeting in April, Something that we have done for the community as a whole for over thirty years. We talked about old business, paying bills, our liquor license, And we talked and planned projects already for our Labor Day Weekend projects to organize and plan for a better weekend for families and friends of Readstown and supporting surrounding communities. We talked about our new Tax Exempt status, with the help of AndyBill Hankins and Scott Brown. We Talked about Booking for more events and rental of our nice building, Requirements for our new Members. We very much enjoyed and appreciate the new support for the surviving years into our future with their active volunteering! Remember mountains are moved when you have a group of great Volunteers that put in many hours of unpaid work for the benefit of our Community. We are planning on having a Celebration of Life remembrance for our member who put many hours in the success of our Labor Day softball tournament which drew folks from Madison to LaCrosse, Wisconsin. We are renaming the Softball Field in honor of our old Friend Chad Larson who sadly passed away in January! That event will take place on July 02nd, 2022. So please Mark your Calendars 📆 for this event and make plans to attend and honor Chad! The “Readstown Fire Department,” is actively helping with the success of our goals for the Labor Day Celebrations. We kindly appreciate their lending support. We are all very proud of our Readstown Fire Department and very gracious that we have a very nice active Fire Department program. A Pedal Pull for the Kids on Saturday; our usual Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, for that weekend, so wax your Classic car and start buying candy to throw into the crowd! Monday the fire department is arranging for a beautiful “Car Show,” with about 200 classic automobiles from the Past! Friday night, Jackie Jones-Goodwin from the Tourism board has a Band scheduled for that night. So polish up your boots and get ready to Dance! I did not hear the name of the Band, So I will post more later! Our delicious Grilled Chicken Dinner is on Monday, But this year Randy ???? Is roasting a Hog on ???
