Torch Lake Triathlon

Torch Lake Triathlon Torch Lake Triathlon is a casual, non-competitive sprint triathlon held every Labor Day weekend at Torch Lake in northern Michigan.

Participants consist of Torch Lake families, neighbors, and friends of all ages. Torch Lake Triathlon is a very casual, non-competitive sprint triathlon held every Labor Day weekend. No timing clock, no bib numbers, no placement awards. Really just a fun gathering to celebrate the end of summer and participate in a sprint triathlon under no performance expectations. You are not obligated to partic

ipate in all three parts of the triathlon. Participate as you please, or just come over and cheer on the racers. Volunteers are always needed and welcome (especially for the swim safety crew). 2021 update: Unfortunately, I will not be able to put on the Triathlon this year. I have recently moved to Colorado and I am in the midst of renovating a new house, so I am unable to make it back to Torch over the Labor Day weekend. I am planning to get back next summer at some point. It may not be more of an impromptu Triathlon, as I may not be returning over the Labor Day weekend. I will update the page as these plans unfold. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next summer!

Due to several different factors including the spiking of Covid-19 cases, I have decided to cancel the Torch Lake Triathlon for 2020. Very sad to do especially since this year was to be the 10th Anniversary of the triathlon. We'll be looking forward to hosting the event next year and hope to see you all then. Like many other things at the moment, the Torch Lake Triathlon is on hold for 2020. I'm hoping to be able to safely put on the triathlon, but that will need to be decided later in the summer when conditions are better known. I'll be making a final decision come early August. Another successful Torch Lake Triathlon!!

Amazingly, there wasn't a drop of rain Sunday morning and it actually started to get sunny toward the end of the triathlon. The triathlon went off without a hitch .... well, one flat tyre but that didn't dampen spirits. Seemed like everyone had a great time and fully enjoyed the warm 72 degree water. 😝

Thanks to everyone who came out for the triathlon and to all those who helped with the swim safety crew! A very big thanks to all the sponsors and supporters!!! You all make it an awesome Labor Day weekend tradition!!!
