Well, the racing's all done for the 2026 season, but we have one more opportunity to get together and hang out, talk about the season, and acknowledge our champions and others behind the scenes. Tonight we hope to see you all at Folsom City Lions Park for our annual awards party and raffle. Show up any time after 5:00pm, we'll get things officially started around 6:00. We'll have cold beer from Bike Dog on tap, feel free to BYO drinks and snacks. We have a sweet collection of goodies from local shops and companies to raffle off, including a SWEET 24-inch wheel Specialized Riprock for a lucky Grom!

We're gonna close out the season's email campaign with some amazing pics from Dean Yoshizumi , featuring some of our favorite riders from 2026.

REGULAR AND GRAVEL RACES TONIGHT!

The season has flown by, and here we are already looking at the last race of the 2026 series. We've had a great time watching y'all riding and racing and having a good time, and we're sad to see it come to a close. There's still plenty of good fun to be had tonight though:
All the individual and team championships are still on the line!
Before the race we'll have our annual costume parade and competition, prizes for the winners!
We'll also have our 2nd annual Gravel Race, with men's and women's gravel categories racing on a special and mostly separate course!

Next week on your calendars:
Wednesday, June 3 - awards party and raffle at Folsom City Park
Saturday, June 6 - Marin Off-Road race from Bear Race Events

This is Asa. She's been laying out and managing your courses for the last 5 seasons, and for many years back about 15+ years ago. She works hard to provide you with a fun and challenging course while also keeping you safe, and it ain't always easy. Give her a THANKS or a high five tonight and tell her you appreciate her.

Tonight is the penultimate (singlespeeders: that means next to last) race of the season, and the final grom race. Next week we'll have our annual costume parade and competition before the race, then a standard course PLUS a gravel specific course and category for all you drop bar aficionados.

Also please remember:
Wednesday, June 3 - awards party and raffle at Folsom City Park!

This week we're featuring photos from Dean Yoshizumi, dyoshphotos here on Facebook, one of the rad photographers that show up from time to time and make y'all look much cooler than you really are. You can also find him on Instagram , and on the side of the race course with a camera. If you find him (or any other local photogs) in the wild, buy them a beer or a coffee, or just shake their hand and thank them for being there.

Tonight is race 6 of our 8 race series, so we need to start pounding some important upcoming dates into your heads:
Next Wednesday, May 20 - last grom race
May 27 - final race, costume competition, separate gravel specific course
Wednesday, June 3 - awards party and raffle at Folsom City Park
Saturday, June 6 - Marin Off-Road race from Bear Race Events

We're into week 5 of the season now, week 2 of team competition, and also week 2 of our grom races. Last week (like almost always) we had quite a large herd of 4th grade and younger groms, and we understand that this is sometimes challenging for the older and faster groms. For our more experienced and confident groms, we're happy to let them race in the beginner or high school categories if they're looking for a more challenging racing experience. Just let the registration crew know so they can recategorize appropriately.

To all you Underbikers out there, we've noticed that about 85% of you are on gravel bikes. Last year some of our gravel and tracklo friends requested a gravel category and course for the season finale, and we gave it a try. It was a massive success, so naturally we'll be doing that again this year. On May 27, you'll have your own category and a gravel-specific course that's 90% separate from the regular course.

It's GROMs go time! Bring all your GROMs 8th grade and younger tonight, we'll have a special course just for them, and their own start time too (5:45). GROMs race on a shorter, simpler, flatter course, for 20-25 minutes. If your GROM is on the older end of the GROM range, or has been racing for a few years, they're welcome to race in our beginner categories. They can even do both races, why not - it's all free anyway thanks to Paco's Sacramento and Kinetic Cycles!

Tonight's your chance to enter the team competition as well. We'll have team comp sign-up forms at registration, and you need to get them turned in BEFORE the race starts TONIGHT.

It looks like we'll have fantastic weather, with lingering puddles from last week's downpour since a lot of the park doesn't drain very fast. Conditions should be fast and fun, sunny and warm, perfect for y'all to get your racin' on!

We know y'all have spent the past two days looking out the window at the rain, wondering how to face the week if it rained so much that that you couldn't race at Prairie City. We're happy to tell you that you don't have to worry any more - tonight's race is ON! Is it gonna be muddy? Heck yeah! Is it still gonna be fun? Mmmm probably, riding bikes is always fun! We'll do our best to skip the puddles and the slop and still give you an entertaining and challenging course like always. We're also going to go old-school and declare DOUBLE POINTS for racing in the mud! That makes this week a can't-miss race.

GROM PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: We're not going to start the Grom season tonight. The area we use for their course will be the wettest and have the biggest puddles, and we don't want to fully submerge our smallest riders. Bring 'em out next week on the 29th!

We're coming to you on this Monday evening with an update on this week's Prairie City race. If you haven't looked at the forecast, we're supposed to get almost three inches of rain between now and race time.
For those of you who haven't raced in the rain at PCRS back in the day, the mud out there is nasty stuff. It'll eat your brake pads and drivetrain in a lap or two. It makes racing a lot less fun, and a lot more expensive.
Also, in the last few years the park has instituted an official wet weather policy, which means that if the forecast comes true we'll be mostly limited to the area of the park nearest the front entrance. While there are some fun trails and features in that zone, after 3" of rain it will be mostly puddles and cobbles.
We'll keep our eye on the sky and talk to Parks over the next 24 hours or so, and hopefully let you know by tomorrow evening if we're GO or NO for Wednesday.
Please tell your less social media addicted friends.
