2017 TOURNAMENT UPDATE:

We regret that the Tournament of the Phoenix will not be back in 2017. We are, however, working diligently to find a way to bring the tournament back in 2018. We regret the disappointment we know this announcement will cause, but please know we're doing all we can to work something out.

For 2017, those of you who would like to see the WorldJoust Knights in action can find us at the Koroneburg Renaissance Faire in Corona for 5 weekends between May 27 and June 25. Each weekend the knights will be competing in a Tournament of Horse which includes martial games and jousting. We'll have our standard Knight's Camp, so stop by, say hi and choose your favourite knight!

(Edited to add- Look for Groupon discount coupons for the Faire. The Faire is under new management, and they are really changing things up!)

Throwback Thursday and Flashback Friday a day late!

3 brothers of the Order of the Crescent on the field at the 2012 Tournament of the Phoenix. Toby Capwell (L) was the winner of the Chivalry prize. Steve Mallett (back to camera) was the winner of the Tournament. When Steve heard that Jeffrey Hedgecock was in second place only one point behind, Steve asked Marshal of the Field Mike Loades to declare it a draw, making both Steve and Jeff the winners. Steve said 'Jeff has fought hard and performed well. He took a big spill on Thursday, and never batted an eye. He's ridden 4 different horses this weekend, and scored more points for me than I did for myself. I think he deserves to win as well.'

There could be no clearer indication of what's important in a WorldJoust Tournament than Steve's gesture- it's not always about the points or even who wins or loses, but it is -always- about how you play the game.

As some of you may have already heard, "The Phoenix" is on haitus for 2016.

After 10 editions of the Tournament, Gwen and I are taking a much-needed break to recharge and free up time for some exciting new projects through the summer and fall.

Jeffrey Hedgecock was the winner of the 2015 Tournament of the Phoenix. Jeffrey accumulated a total of 142 points over the 3 day-7 event competition. Steve Mallett of England placed 2nd with a score of 136 points. Seรกn George, also of England, placed 3rd with a total of 107 points. Ivar Mauritz-Hansen of Norway placed 4th, with 66 points.

'Team Hedgecock' included his horse Lucas, valet Sean Bartholome and groom Anna Castiglioni.

Although competing in all 10 tournaments and having been a team and shared winner in past events, this was Jeff's first outright win.
