General information
It's a new race year for Pink Shamrock 5K and 1in9. The race will still be in beautiful downtown Raleigh but will move towards Hillsborough Street. The race will take place behind McDaid's Irish Restaurant and Pub at Compiegne Park. The Pink Shamrock 5-K benefits 1 in 9, a locally-based breast cancer charity. When it was founded in 2010, the statistic was that 1 in every 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Now it is 1 in 8 which makes the work we do even more important. Fighting cancer can be tough - and costly - for families. 1 in 9 helps breast cancer patients with nutritional support, childcare, travel and parking, utilities and medical equipment so that patient avoids or discontinues life-saving treatment because of bills. 1 in 9 also seeks to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
