💪 At mile 11, she wanted to quit. Marines made sure she didn’t.

“... I was tingling and everything was flashing, and all I kept saying was, ‘God, I ain’t stopping,’” Gaby said in an Instagram Reel following the race. “I shuffled most of the race, but once I got to those hills my body did NOT like the walking at all. There was a point where I honestly thought I might have to throw in the towel.”

Also pictured are club leaders Alexis Cagan and Ray Celeste, a Marine Corps Marathon Hall of Famer who is aiming to complete his 39th MCM this year, along with Dr. Nicole Krugar, who shared expert guidance on running injury prevention and treatment.

As we prepare to welcome thousands of runners to the streets of Fredericksburg for the Marine Corps Historic Half, Race Director, Alex Hetherington and Marketing & Sponsorship Manager, Amber Traunero had the honor of meeting with Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry Devine as she officially proclaimed May 17, 2026 as Marine Corps Historic Half Day.
