Today at Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, Reverend Margaret Philip drew from Philippians 4:1–9 and Matthew 22:1–14 to remind us that faith is not only about finding joy—it is about helping create a world worth celebrating. As Kool & the Gang put it, “Celebrate good times, come on!” Even writing from prison, Paul called people to rejoice, stay grounded in God, and focus on what is true, just, loving, and worthy of praise. In a world that can feel divided and polarized, we are still called to choose compassion, challenge injustice, and become part of the healing.

Matthew’s wedding banquet reminds us that God’s invitation reaches farther than we sometimes expect. The guest list keeps expanding. The doors stay open. Everyone is invited to the table. Reverend Margaret encouraged us to hear these ancient stories with fresh ears, to question the systems around us, and to imagine the kind of world Jesus calls us to build. Maybe that is what it means to look around and see “what a wonderful world”—not because everything is perfect, but because love, beauty, possibility, and miracles are still all around us. The celebration is already happening. Come to the banquet.

Next Sunday at 11:00 AM, Pastor Bobbie Ramer will preach “So Who Is in Charge?” from Isaiah 45:1–7 and Matthew 22:15–22, with special musical guests Utah Baroque Ensemble. We’d love to have you with us!

On Clergy Appreciation Day, Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ gives thanks for Pastor Alex Brown, and all the local clergy and chaplains who serve our congregation and community.

You show up for people in moments of joy, grief, uncertainty, and hope. You listen, offer comfort, celebrate milestones, and remind people that they are loved and never alone. Much of what you do happens quietly, but it makes a lasting difference.

Thank you for sharing your faith, compassion, and care so generously. We are grateful for each of you! ❤️

SOMETHING TO “TACO” ABOUT!

Today is National Taco Day, and it has us thinking about the conversations that happen when we sit down together. A shared meal can be a chance to catch up, listen to someone’s story, or get to know a neighbor.

At Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, we believe everyone deserves a place at the table and someone willing to listen. Who would you like to sit down and “taco” with this week?

October 5 is National Do Something Nice Day! Kindness doesn’t have to be grand to make a difference. Check in on someone who may be lonely, help a neighbor with a task, share a meal, or offer a few words of encouragement. Small acts like these remind people that they are seen and valued.

At Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, we believe everyone belongs, and each of us can help make our community a little warmer. How will you spread kindness today?

Today at Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, Adrienne Rossetti shared “A Love Song,” based on Matthew 21:33–46 and Isaiah 5:1–7.

There is something powerful about a love song. It tells a story of longing, devotion, heartbreak, and hope—and in today’s scriptures, God sings a love song of His own.

The message was echoed beautifully in one of today’s hymns:

“Love to the loveless shown, that they might lovely be.”

What a beautiful reminder that God’s love reaches toward us, transforms us, and calls something new to grow within us.

God lovingly tends the vineyard, giving it everything it needs to flourish. Even when the vineyard fails to bear good fruit, God continues to reach out.

Even after rejection, God reaches out again.

God’s love is not merely sentimental—it is sacrificial, persistent, and transforming. And that love calls for a response.

What kind of fruit is growing in our lives?

Love. Joy. Peace. Mercy. Justice. Forgiveness. Compassion.

When we truly understand how deeply God loves us, something should begin to grow—a little more forgiveness, a little more generosity, a little more courage to love, and a little more willingness to serve.

God’s vineyard is still here.
The love song is still being sung.
Will our lives become part of the song?

Join us next Sunday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. as Reverend Margaret Philip shares “Celebration Time, Come On!” based on Philippians 4:1–9 and Matthew 22:1–14.

Come for worship, music, fellowship, and reflection. All are welcome!
