Opening day brought packed houses for every film! Our Artist-in-Residence, REBECA HUNTT, presented her powerful and deeply personal film BEBA to an engaged audience, followed by a lovely, moving Q&A that made the screening even more special.

1pm THE LIBERATION
Carrie C**n stars as a Holocaust survivor who walks away from her family to join a mysterious all-female commune, drawing her two grown daughters into a fight to bring her home. Inspired by true events.

A documentary portrait of writer, advice columnist, and Trump-trial victor E. Jean Carroll, tracing her rise from small-town Indiana to the top ranks of American magazine journalism, and her fight to hold power accountable.

Tennis icon Billie Jean King transformed sports and society. Through archives and intimate interviews with King and her inner circle, we see how she prioritized changing the world over self-preservation.

A contemporary reimagining of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway, set among the elite of present-day Lagos, as a society woman hosting a party is confronted by the choices and relationships of her youth.

WOMEN @ WATERS EDGE October 13th -17th Presents Our 2026 Residents In Our
Filmmaker Residency Program

Continuing Provincetown’s 100-year tradition as America’s oldest art colony, the PFS Filmmaker Residency Program offers established filmmakers from around the world dedicated time to create and connect in Provincetown during the off-season.

The program provides weeklong residencies, including lodging and a small travel stipend, for two LGBTQ+ filmmakers in April and two female-identifying filmmakers in October. Residents may focus uninterrupted on a current project or engage with Provincetown’s vibrant community of artists and writers.

Residencies are by invitation only, with participants nominated by a panel of film industry professionals.

The program is produced in partnership with the Provincetown Art Society at the Mary Heaton Vorse House.

MEET OUR 2026 WOMEN ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE:

REBECA HUNTT

Rebeca Huntt is an award-winning Afro-Latina writer and director born and raised in New York City. Her debut feature, BEBA, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released theatrically by NEON in 2022 to critical acclaim from The New York Times, The New Yorker, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and others. The film was nominated for a Berlinale Crystal Bear and the Film Independent Spirit Award for Truer Than Fiction, and received three Cinema Eye Honors nominations, including Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Debut. Huntt’s second documentary feature, RAPINOE, about iconic athlete Megan Rapinoe, premiered as the Opening Night documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2026 and was acquired by HBO Max for U.S. distribution. Huntt was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough artist and is represented by UTA.

INÉS GOWLAND

Inés Gowland is an Argentinian writer, director, and cinematographer based in New York. She received her MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, was selected for Berlinale Talents 2026, and is currently a finalist for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Award with her project 227 Moons.

Her short film Destete premiered at Clermont Ferrand (2019) and won “Best Narrative Short” at the San Diego Latino Film Festival (2020) and “Best Student Narrative Short” at the RiverRun International Film Festival (2019). Her earlier short Latiner won “Best Short Film” at the Official Latino Film Festival (2015). Her feature script Calma Chicha was selected for EAVE Puente (2020/21), the Sundance Producing Summit (2021), NYU Slate (2021), and Cine Qua Non Lab (2021).

On top of her work as a writer and director, Inés has a fruitful career as a narrative cinematographer, with her work screened worldwide at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Rotterdam, Tribeca, and San Sebastián. She is a member of the International Collective of Female Cinematographers and was selected for the 2019/2020 ASC Vision Mentorship Program.
