He founded an early Alternative Newspaper in RI called “The Point” in 1971 which covered the local and

national counter culture issues of the time, a significant part of the paper was devoted to music. During the 1970’s & 80’s Richard freelanced for magazines such as Rolling Stone, Cream, Guitar Player and many other publications. He was Chief Photographer for BAM, The California Music Magazine from 1975 to 85 and also worked with Concert Promoters and Record companies. In 1979 he co-published “Xcapees”, a book covering the beginnings of the Punk Rock movement. In 1980 he co-founded “Eye Gallery”, a non profit photo gallery, community lab and studio in the Mission District of San Francisco and was Board Chairman from 1982-84. Since 1991 Richard has been contributing to "GolocalProv" and various other publications in Rhode Island. Richard is represented by Getty Images and his photographs appear in numerous national and international books, publications and Albums/CD’s.
