DAY 9: NATE 🎃
One of the joys of throwing these gatherings is seeing a familiar face in the crowd. Occasionally, that familiar face turns up in drag and hosts your burlesque show.
Meet Nate, a fellow seasonal camper at Vermont Freedom Campground who has attended nearly every event I’ve put on there. Fun, curious, and always a joy to have around, he’s become a welcome part of our wonderfully strange neighborhood.
And yes, he once stepped into his drag persona to host our burlesque show. Camping comes with some excellent extracurricular activities around here.
This community is made up of the people who build the stage, the people who take it, and the people who keep coming back to share in the experience. I’m grateful Nate is part of that story.
Nate, thank you for showing up, joining the fun, and lending us a little of your own theatrical spirit. I’m glad to have you in this year’s portraits, and I’d love to see you become an even bigger part of what we’re building.
31 DAYS. 31 PORTRAITS. ONE BEAUTIFULLY ABNORMAL FAMILY.
Every October, I bring nightmares to life through my lens. This year, I’m showing you the people behind the madness.
Blackbeard’s 31 Days of Halloween is a daily horror portrait series featuring the crew, artists, and community members who make Blackbeard Endeavors and the Freak Show possible. Beneath the blood, makeup, and masks are the people who help build a home for the beautifully abnormal.
This is a celebration of creativity, belonging, and the freedom to be yourself. A chance to meet our family and discover that there might be a place in it for you.
And it all leads to Blackbeard’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 31, at The Met in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Follow along each day, then come celebrate with us.
You don’t have to know us yet. That’s what this month is for.
