PAHS & Hoghead Festival need the community to step up in order to have a chance at continuing.
Hoghead Festival Needs Community Support to Continue
Proctor’s beloved Proctor Hoghead Festival , a tradition that celebrates our community spirit and heritage, needs the public’s help to continue.
At the September 2, 2025, City Council meeting, 2025 Hoghead Organizers Jared Hinks and Jim Schwarzbauer of the Proctor Area Historical Society (PAHS), Hoghead fiscal sponsor, presented a financial and organizational update. With both Hinks and Schwarzbauer stepping away from leadership roles at the end of this year, new community members must step forward to keep the festival alive.
Hinks and Schwarzbauer recommended that Hoghead remain under the umbrella of PAHS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which already has established financial accounts and organizational infrastructure. However, to move forward, PAHS needs four new officers by January 1, 2026. Without these positions filled, both the Hoghead Festival and the Proctor Area Historical Society Museum will be at risk of closing.
Key roles that must be filled include:
• PAHS Officers (President, Treasurer, and two others)
• Hoghead Festival Committee Chairs
Festival organizers emphasized the groundwork has already been laid: Hoghead has a strong following on social media, a dedicated website, financial accounts, and nearly $7,000 in carry-forward funds to support 2026 planning. “This Festival has been organized, documented, and built for long-term success—we just need the next group of community leaders to step in,” said Schwarzbauer. “If new officers are not committed by January 1, 2026, Hoghead Festival may not continue.”
The City of Proctor is urging residents to consider volunteering and helping sustain this tradition. Anyone interested in becoming involved with PAHS or the Hoghead Festival should contact the Proctor Historical Society for more information (218) 206-7880.
