As Memorial Day weekend comes to a close, I encourage those who have not yet done so to take a moment tonight to remember those who have gone before us. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who participated in and assisted with our VFW and American Legion programs this weekend. Without the support of our community, we would be unable to host such events. For our VFW members, the day began extremely early, departing our post at 0645 hours to conduct full honors at seven rural cemeteries across Sherburne to Isanti and Mille Lacs counties. We then proceeded to the high school program, followed by the combined Legion and VFW ceremonies at Oak Knoll Cemetery, and concluded with the laying of a wreath in the Rum River. Finally, we hosted our Memorial Day cookout in Veterans Hall at the VFW. I am pleased to see numerous young people actively participating in Memorial Day events within our community. Once again, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who participated and assisted today. Thank you very much.
