In the early 2000s Cedric stepped out from behind the kit and became his generation's frontman for the Hill Country Blues movement. Burnside has been a recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and has won a Grammy Award and been nominated for three others in the Best Blues / Best Traditional Blues categories.
