een singing his songs for decades. It was a desire of Robert (Bob) Brumley to keep alive the songs of his father. Even though Bob is no longer with us, the family still operates the company offices built in the 1940's in Powell, Missouri. We are now in the 3rd generation of the family business going on 100 years. Bob's 2 daughters Elaine and Betsy are excited to keep Brumley Music and their Grandpa Brumley's amazing legacy going on and thriving.

We were able to visit the church Albert E. Brumley attended while he started writing I’ll Fly Away. Albert and his parents lived down the road from the church and he would go there to play piano with Johnny’s father Claude. Thanks to Johnny & Jeanne for showing us the building.

We found the farm Albert E. Brumley was working on with his parents near Liberty Hill, OK when he was inspired to write I’ll Fly Away. He was picking cotton. Since his time on the farm they switched from cotton, to watermelon and vegetables and now cattle. You can feel the energy on the land. It’s special ground. While cleaning out the office we found a T-Shirt from the Hill & Hollow Folk Festival grandpa Brumley founded in 1969. Does anyone have any Hill & Hollow stories they’d like to share?

While cleaning the office we found a large cardboard covered object that says “Fragile! Do not bend.” What could it be? Well, it’s a limited edition photo of 4 generations of the Lewis Family. It was sold to raise money for the Southern Gospel Music Association - SGMA. Jeff & Sheri Easter.
