Dear Team SBB Racing and Phoenix Rising Teammates. I just found out about a 6-8 hr AR sponsored by the USO coming this Sat June 26th to York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA. The course was designed by our fellow AR friend Brent Russell.

The course has Mtn Biking, AR off-trail navigation and SUP paddling. SUPs provided by the USO (but if you have your own, you can bring and use it in the race). This would be the perfect opportunity for all of you newer AR teammates to possibly try going solo to test out your AR skills or racing as a 2-person for same skill testing…

You can start anytime you like and do the whole course or just any part(s) of it you like. Here’s the BEST part: It is FREE of charge! The only requirement is they need everyone to Register for their Insurance and for planning SWAG and food for afterwards. I’ll be there as a volunteer (since my arm is in a sling from surgery Monday) and hope to see many or all of you there! Below are details and a LINK where to Register.

Dear loyal Soggy Botton Boys Racing friends and fellow racers. As fellow racers ourselves, we know so many of you have been watching calendars and AR postings eagerly awaiting AR races to "open up" before they "fill-up". We are in unprecedented "Feast" times in AR where races get announced and fill up the maximum State allowable capacities in less than a month. In yrs past, one might be able to wait till the last month (and pay the Full cost) before registering.
It is with a heavy & sad heart 💔 that we needed to announce publicly that our park permit requests for the 2021 Summer Solstice have Not been approved (due to COVID reasons) by the State of VA.
We know that so many of you all enjoy our course designs and uniqueness of certain CPs we locate for you to find. We also know how much you all enjoy the home-made meals prepared just for you by my chef friends waiting for you upon your finish. Take heart and know if COVID gets better in 2021, the designs are in place and we look forward to putting on our Signature Adventure Races: Summer Solstice & STORM the Eastern Shore in June and Fall 2022 just for YOU! 😃

Shoutout to Soggy Bottom Boys team captains Mark Montague (“The Godfather”) & David J Angelone (the “Professor”) who mentored 10+ AR newbies over the last few months. Well this past weekend was graduation day for 2 newbie SBB teams at The Chill 9 hour AR & man was it fun!! 🤩 AND we learned a ton of lessons on race day to take forward to our next AR ‘Brake the Habit’ 🚲🛶 🧭 🥾

The Chill is a winter adventure race in Cumberland, VA, which you have 9-hours to complete 4TA and 36 checkpoints.

2 Newbies & 3 Experienced Adventure Racers train to prepare for the 2021 Sea to Sea expedition race. The focus was intended to be cold weather cycling/endurance training but turned out to be much more as our planned route was covered in snow, so ended up snow biking.

Newbie AR lesson learned: Never get married to the plan as the plan will most likely change/evolve, enjoy the moments of sharing the unexpected with teammates, and keep moving!
