The 9th Annual Vanport Jazz Festival returns August 7–8, 2026 to the University of Portland with two incredible nights of world-class live music, Northwest wine and spirits, and the cultural legacy that makes this festival unlike anything else in the Pacific Northwest.

Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏾 June 19th is significant for the Vanport Jazz Festival. Clara Peoples, a Black woman who moved to Vanport for work in the Kaiser shipyards, organized Portland's first Juneteenth celebration in 1945 and helped launch the citywide celebration in 1972 after the Vanport flood. The annual Juneteenth parade is named the Clara Peoples Freedom Trail Parade in her honor. The spirit of Clara Peoples is central to everything we do at VJF. Discover the legacy.
