The show is on hiatus until further notice due to my health. Thank you and profound love to all contributors for making this phenomenon what it was and is. We... WE ... will be back.

Friends, I need three more performers for next week's Hour That Stretches. Scrubbed this week due to comedy of errors. Hit me up. I'm all ears

Thanks to my faery godsister Camille Perry, The Hour That Stretches is in talks to become online...with global circulation. Watch This Space. I bit the bullet.

Good morning, everyone. I have two new potential pairs of hands involved in the Hour, both behooving me to ask: Do you folks want to get a virtual Hour together until the world actually opens back up? Becky, looking at you first, but anyone who has something to say. There were these people singing in Italy who gave me some funny ideas...

LITFIC PEOPLE, Authors in general, a Call For Works from my pal Susie Bright. Yes, her. Hear ye: We need era-changing books right now— writing that makes sense, makes life, makes a point, makes the crazy beautiful, or hilarious, or discovered. The zeitgeist story.

Pitch me your manuscripts. Editors and publishers like myself, are scouring the earth for the right books and stories right now. Especially work that can be produced competently and quickly, with impeccable writing... haha! But they’re out there; we know they are.

Yes, my call is reflected by every major publishing office and entertainment studio.

(To lay people: all the upcoming books and movies that are coming out this summer and fall... they were produced last year. And 90% of them dont’ make any sense, post-corona. They’re an ill fit. Everyone is scrambling for relevance!)

Pros, you know what to do: Cover letter, Synopsis and sample are fine, or a few chapters if you’re already into it. If you have the perfect thing in the drawer, well, you must realize you have a miracle in your hands.

Novices: prepare a descriptive cover letter and a sample of your story— or the whole enchilada of your work if you’ve finished a first draft. Fiction or non-fiction. Needs to feel right for this moment, or prescient of the next. Double space everything, 12 point serif type. Send PDFs.

My experience with soliciting work is that too often the most talented, the most insightful, are too shy or insecure to take the leap. Please consider this a sincere invitation.

Email to [email protected]. If you get a spam warning, just verify and you’ll get through. I acquire for Audible and am on speed dial for most publishers you’re acquainted with. I’m going to take this invitation down in a couple days, but I thought I’d see what happened if I did a big call. Hope to see you in my in box! === Susie

Okay, who's next up? Somebody tell us a story. I'll start: Once upon a time, Everything Went F**ko Bazoo... And somewhere, the lights were still on for people to write about it...

John Madson is an interdimensional traveler stuck in a blue collar nightmare. When he's not burdened with the daily grind of labor for wages, he studies mythology in order to build better worlds, writes poetry, and attempts to teach his cat how to cook so that he has more time to focus on writing things that people need to read.

[Reposting, adding to, watch this space, but:] The Hour That Stretches is on for Sunday, Jan. 26th at Ford Food & Drink in beautiful, sunny Southeast Portland. I am grateful beyond words to the creme de la creme of the Portland Poetry Scene, from my Cafe Lena pal/force of Nature Dan Raphael... to Hour newcomer and veteran verse-Witch Morgan Paige Hutchinson...to my fellow Irradiated Poet of yore, the amazing Casey Bush...to returning Hour veteran poet and favorite Amy Leona Havin... and a newcomer from one of Garrett Cook's writing workshops, author John Madson. Can't stress this enough: So grateful you people exist, to say nothing of my favorite performer at the Hour, our kind and vibrant Audience. Gonna get this in the Weeklies now and stuff.
