I'm sad to say that we've decided not to host the Rock Lobster Relay in 2018. This event started as a dream in January 2012 and didn't actually happen until 2016 after 3 failed attempts. A couple of weeks before the 2016 event an anonymous person actively tried to sabotage the whole thing, but we pressed on. There is an unholy amount of work and planning that goes into a 200 mile relay race. It takes a dedicated staff and a small army of volunteers willing to stay up all night long. My greatest sense of satisfaction came from high-fiving all the team members after they crossed the finish line and placing medals around people's neck with the help of my wife and 4 year old son. Having hosted the event twice we feel like the dream has been fulfilled. We feel blessed to have had this opportunity and grateful to all the people who participated. While the event won't be held in 2018 you never know where and when the next Rock Lobster Relay might pop up.
Sincerely
Erik Boucher

Did you know that you can make your Rock Lobster Relay team with coworkers? It might sound crazy asking them to run a total of 200 miles together, but it's crazy fun! Just ask the Maine Law Running Team!

Earlier today we heard the call from Jeremy Henry from Lewiston, ME who is planning to drive a 26-foot Penske truck down to Orange, TX. He wrote, “My hometown received over 42 inches of rain. Most of my family and friends have lost everything and the people of Orange are hurting and desperate. You've seen the news and it’s worse than you think!” Since our race season is over we loaded up everything relevant that we could including: a pallet of blue shop towel rolls, a pallet of cases of Drink Maple, cases of KIND bars, cases of trash bags, and bins full of new unopened race shirts. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Monument Square in Portland to see the Penske truck was nearly full. There was a steady stream of people dropping off bags and boxes of requested supplies. Our hats go off to Jeremy for taking the time to organize this and for driving a big truck all the way from Maine to Texas. We hope that it gives the people in Orange, Texas a little comfort.

"It took our team 26 hours 20 minutes to finish the relay. Earning us 2nd place. But that's not the best part. The best part is the new friends I've made, the new memories made, the new experience to add to my book. 6 people in a van for 26 hours is an adventure. I can say that I would join them all again for another adventure if invited."
