It’s race week! Thank you to all who have already signed up to run/walk or volunteer with us on Sunday. Registration will be open until 7:30am on race day.
We are finalizing the volunteer and runners guides and you will see these via email in the next day or so.
To celebrate race week – check out a few of the historic places you will see along the race route.
1 - Lincoln Park is the city's oldest public park, established in 1866 as a firebreak following the Great Fire. It is a historic 2-acre green space, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, featuring a restored 19th-century Parisian fountain. The park is named for Abraham Lincoln.
2/3 - Portland City Hall in Maine is a historic Beaux-Arts granite building located at 389 Congress Street, completed in 1912. It serves as the center of city government, featuring a distinctive 200-foot tower and housing the 1,908-seat Merrill Auditorium. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
4 – Wadsworth - Longfellow House is both the oldest standing structure on the Portland peninsula and the childhood home of American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Our race’s namesake).
5- Monument Square features the statue “Our Lady of Victories” which is one of largest bronze statues in America. This monument honors over 5,000 Portland soldiers & sailors who served in the Civil War.
