Premieres of the 2026 Portland 48 Hour Horror & Sci-Fi Project! Sample this killer batch of out-of-this world short films-all created in a mere two days over the weekend of April 24.

Each group features 13 different diabolical delights that are sure to drive you to the edge of sanity. Genres including mind control, creature feature, lost world, space pirate, slasher film, 'wrong place, wrong time horror" and many, many, more.

With this much mind-bending madness there's something for everyone! Plus, we'll let the audience pick their favorite film at each screening and announce the Audience Favorite after a filmmaker Q & A that concludes each session.

⚠️ PDX 48HFP Horror/Sci-Fi Update: AI Usage Rules (2026)

As we head into kickoff this Friday, there’s an important rule update all teams need to know:

The 48 Hour Film Project is no longer accepting films that use generative AI to create footage, characters, or performances.

This update comes directly from filmmaker feedback and extensive discussion with City Producers. The goal is clear: keep the 48 about teams of people creating films together.

🚫 Not Allowed:
• AI-generated footage or video of any kind
• AI-generated characters, actors, or digital humans
• AI-generated voiceover, dialogue, or character voices
• Using AI to create required elements (character, prop, line)

✅ Allowed (with limits):
• Scriptwriting assistance (ideas, outlining, drafting)
• Still image creation
• Music creation
• Editing/post tools (color, audio cleanup, VFX tools within software)

Additional requirements:
• No AI use before the official 48-hour window
• All AI tools must be disclosed on your Wrap Up Form
• You must have legal rights to anything created or used

🎬 Bottom line: bring your team, your creativity, and your craft—this is about making films together in real time.
