The Stage Fright Festival Scrypt Lab is
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!

The Scrypt Lab is a WIP development program for artists building text-driven performances that are rooted in q***r horror.

The lab provides one-on-one, individualized support designed to help you take a work-in-progress idea and shape it into a fully realized piece for the stage.

This lab is for projects that already exist in some form but need refinement, direction, and support to move forward with intention.

DEADLINE to Apply is MAY 1st!

More info and application can be found on our website or at the link in our bio.

Curious what you’re getting yourself into?

Step right up and ask your burning questions!

The webinar will cover:

💀 Where Stage Fright came from (and what we mean by “q***r horror”)

💀 Who should apply and what artists actually get out of it

💀 What is a “fringe model” of producing a festival — and why we use it

💀 What other events will be part of the festival

💀 I don’t want to apply! How else can I be involved, or how do I join a production who has applied?

✨ We’ll also be spilling the tea about our new Works-in-Progress program!!! ✨

‼️REGISTER for the webinar at the link in bio.‼️

Come ask questions, get a feel for the chaos… and see if it’s your kind of thing!

Stage Fright Festival Artist Applications
What We Are Looking For
Not sure if the work you have in mind is right for Stage Fright?

We’re looking for pieces that fall into two categories:
Over 45 minutes and Under 45 minutes

But what does that mean—specifically—you ask?

* Ghoulish groans and moans *
Do we have to do all the work for you?

Just Kidding

Here are some ideas and examples of what we’ve had in the past / what we are looking for going forward:

Burlesque. Cabaret. Musical numbers.
Sultry. Silly. Sinister. Scandalous.
We want it all.

Comedy. Improve. Etc.
Stand-up. Sketch. Whatever.
Make us laugh and scream with delight.

Short plays. Skits. Theatrical delights.
One-act nightmares. Bite-size drama.
Multi-act chaos.
Show us what you got.

Avant-garde. Experimental. Genre-resistant.
If you don’t know what to call it, that’s a good sign.
We like weird s**t.

Puppetry. Object-based performance.
Quirky. Grotesque. Devastating.
Just make it q***r.

Staged readings. Live storytelling.
Tell us a story.
Make us cry. Make us laugh. Make us cringe.

Circus-adjacent acts. Physical performance.
Clowning. Acrobatics. Movement.
We like things a little topsy-turvy.

Still Unsure?
If your work lives somewhere between q***r, theatrical, and a little unhinged... we want to see it.

Apply and Surprise Us
Seriously. Don’t be scared. We don’t bite... hard.
What do you have to lose, besides your soul?

TONIGHT @ STAGE FRIGHT 👻
Two eerie performances you won’t want to miss:

🩸 7:30 PM — SOLI-SCARE
Nick Condon dares to do the unthinkable: a fully improvised solo horror musical. Think Rocky Horror meets Little Shop meets one man against the void, with musical maestro Mel Owen.

🧠 9:00 PM — BUBBLEGUM
In this not-for-children children’s show from Daniela Nenova, expect nostalgia, puppets, subversion, and sticky situations. It’s 1984’s Sesame Street with nuclear vibes and anarchist intent.

Tonight’s shows are deliciously deranged 🩸

🫧 7:30 – Bubblegum by Daniela Nenova
It’s 1984’s Sesame Street meets Chernobyl. Join the studio audience for a puppet-fueled descent into nostalgia, survival tips, and unhinged non-for-children TV show chaos.

🔑 9:00 – The Innkeeper by Basement Stair Collective
Lost in a storm? A mysterious inn appears. Don’t ask questions. Just… check in. You’ll laugh, you’ll shiver, and you might never leave.

Both

Tonight’s lineup is to die for.

👻 7:30 PM – Possessive by The Unwelcome Company
A lonely shut-in summons a demon for company. What could go wrong?

9:00 PM – Double Feature:
🧠 The Surgery
A trans Synthesist attempts gender confirmation surgery… on a cis audience member.

🕵️‍♀️ Improvised Film Noir
1940s noir gets the q***r improv treatment from Butch / Femme Fatale.

Tonight @ 7:30pm: Two tales. Zero chill.

🛍️ In Scare City, haunted retail goes corporate. Think workplace comedy meets cursed inventory meets late-capitalist Halloween meltdown. Will Isaac survive orientation?

🧜‍♀️ Then in Revenge of the Attack of the Killer Sirens, Rhoda’s new girlfriend might be a siren-assassin cult recruit. Or maybe just a bad roommate. Either way, there’s definitely a body pit in the backyard.
