“This year’s winners represent a tremendous dedication to restoring and revitalizing Georgia’s historic buildings and communities,” said Mark McDonald, president of The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. “We are proud to honor such deserving projects and individuals.”

The city of Porterdale, Ga., received an “Excellence in Preservation” award last week from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation at a ceremony in Athens for its restoration and repurposing of Porter Memorial Gymnasium.

Porterdale Gym project architect Jerry Lominack, along with firm partner Anne K. Smith, were appointed fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently. Less than 4% of all architects in the US have that distinction. The gym project was used as supporting material in the nomination proposal. Congratulations to Lominack Kolman Smith Architects!
