Alumni Spotlight: Way to go! Parker graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Euphonium Performance, and a minor in Music Technology.
Congratulations to Parker Yi who is heading into his second year as a master's student in Euphonium Performance. Parker works both as an advisor for the Student Entertainment Board (SEB) and also works with the Cougar Marching Band.
Parker graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Euphonium Performance, and a minor in Music Technology in 2025.
During his time at WSU, Parker has performed with many of the on-campus ensembles including as a soloist in the Symphony Orchestra, lead trombonist in the Jazz Lab Band, a pit performer with the Opera, and a guest conductor for the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Tuba Choir. In March of 2026, Parker won 2nd place in Artist Euphonium Solo Competition at the Northwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference! His collaboration with the SEB Team has also helped the organization to double their attendance numbers from the previous year - a momentum that he hopes to continue next semester.
In the fall, Parker looks forward to working on his thesis and continuing his playing/conducting journey. His thesis project will involve the creation of several new recordings of repertoire for the euphonium. Parker plans to feature the works of both well-known and rising composers!
