🎶 Big Band Dance - Student Concert Favorites 🎶

Sophomore Dominic Morales, saxophonist, is pursuing the Bachelor of Music Education Degree as well as a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree with instrumental emphasis. He will be performing with the ENMU Jazz Band Big Band Dance Thursday, October 15, 2026, 7:00pm, ENMU CUB Ballroom. ($5.00 admission donation)

Dominic shares, "I will be performing in the ENMU Jazz Band Big Band Dance at the CUB Ballroom. I'm excited to be playing a wide variety of jazz music. I am most excited to play "Ain't Misbehavin'" arranged by Bob Lowden that features a solo for Bari Sax that I will be playing at the beginning of the second set of our performance. If you enjoy jazz music and dancing, come by the Big Band Dance Thursday, October 15, at 7pm in the CUB Ballroom."



Sophomore Christopher Jones, trumpeter, is pursuing the Bachelor of Music Education Degree with instrumental emphasis. He also will be performing in the ENMU Big Band Dance Thursday, October 15, 2026, 7:00 pm, ENMU CUB Ballroom.

"I am excited for the opportunity to perform on an instrument that isn't my principal instrument, the trombone. This has been a fruitful learning experience playing on a different instrument, learning many styles of big band jazz like funk, latin, and swing. Please join us for an exciting evening of jazz.”

🎶 Wind Symphony Student Concert Favorites 🎶

Parker- Makenzy Bass is a Sophomore Bassoon Performance and Music Education minor in Music Composition. She writes, "I am excited to perform ‘Blue Marble’, a wonderful piece by Julie Giroux that draws the audience in a film set to music. I greatly connect with this piece, finding myself singing it during the day. I’m excited to have a solo in the 2nd mov. since most people haven’t heard the lyrical and singing quality of the bassoon which I’m glad to perform. Come and watch our concert on Sunday Oct. 11 and watch this beautiful film be brought to life with music!"


Isaac Victory, Hornist, is a Junior pursuing the Bachelor of Music Education degree with Instrumental Emphasis. He will be performing in the ENMU Wind Symphony on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 3 PM in Buchanan Hall. Freshman Kaia Dolan, soprano, is pursuing the Bachelor of Music Education degree with Choral emphasis. She is performing in the choir concert on October 8, Thursday , 7:00 pm in Buchanan Hall.

She is extremely excited to be performing “Sisi Ni Moja” by Jacob Narverud with the choir, as it is the first song she ever performed in choir her freshman year of high school. The song, in many ways, convinced her to stay in high school choir which later led her to her choice of Music Education as a major. She states it’s a “full-circle moment” for her. She is also thrilled to be performing “Stand Up” by Joshua Campbell and Cynthia Echeumuna-Erivo and is honored to have been entrusted with a solo piece in the arrangement. Kaia is very excited to be apart of University Singers and the Music Department at ENMU and cannot wait to continue making music.

Carlos Gutierrez, a freshman Music Education major with choral emphasis will be singing tenor with both the ENMU University Singers and Chamber Songers this Thursday night. He shares, "Two of my favorite pieces that we will be performing on our Fall Concert this Thursday, October 8th, 2026, are “The Walking on the Water” by Spencer Wiles and “Dream On” by Ben Rector. “The Walking on the Water” is a piece from our University Singers set that will also be sung on our Chamber Tour. This piece is fun to perform, and I believe it could deeply connect with the audience as it has connected with me due to the clear message of the song. This piece is challenging when trying to portray the storm and clarity of the ocean, and the terror of the disciples when Jesus walked on the sea from the adaptation of Gospel of Matthew. This song also includes a sense of uncertainty and the culmination into calmness that was shown by the disciples in the Gospel."

The other piece Carlos is excited to perform is “Dream On” by Ben Rector. He states, "The selection encourages the audience to hold on to their dreams even when life becomes discouraging. This song reflects the composer's rediscover passion for writing after an unexpected pause in his career. One of the many things I enjoy about performing this song is the implication of a kid’s song for adults and returns to the topic of the songs central theme that one should keep going."
