"Random Acts of Kindness"๐ฅฐ Way to go NSB PD!!
NSBPD OFFICERS "PAY IT FORWARD"
On Friday January 31st, FTO Ralph Hunnefeld and Recruit Officer Jordan Ishikawa made contact with a homeless family after a concerned citizen notified dispatch of a family with two small children panhandling near Wal-Mart. They had also been sighted on January 30th by other concerned citizens in the city.
The officers attempted to speak with the family, but soon learned they did not speak English. Thinking quickly, the officers utilized "Google Translate" in Romanian and were able to ascertain that the family did not have diapers/formula and other necessities for their infant child.
FTO Hunnefeld, himself a father of two young children, quickly made the decision to "Pay it Forward" and purchase supplies with his own money for this family in need.
The officers also took a look at their vehicle and found that one of the car sets needed to be replaced. They were able to locate another car seat with the assistance of our Victim's Advocate Office at the police department, determined where the family could stay, and then sent them back to Orlando to be near their family.
We are proud of all of our officers, but wanted to highlight this situation and the "Random Act of Kindness" displayed by Officers' Hunnefeld and Ishikawa. Great Job !!
