That parent who stormed off because their kid sat one inning?

The coach they just cursed out was at the field at 5:30 AM. Dragging bases. Setting up. Doing what most parents won't.

He left his own kid's event early. He bought gear with his own money. He stayed up last night replaying lineup decisions, terrified he'd hurt someone's confidence.

He's not getting paid. Not one dollar.

What you didn't see: The midnight research. The personal investment. The way he learns every kid's name, every fear, every strength.

Youth sports survive because ordinary people make extraordinary sacrifices they'll never get back.

Lost family time. Gone weekends. The weight of trying to be fair to kids who all deserve their moment.

In heat. Rain. Chaos.

For free.

So before you complain from those bleachers, answer this:

When did you help? When did you volunteer? When did you say thank you?

These coaches aren't perfect. But they showed up.

And unless you're ready to grab that clipboard and do it yourself...

Sit down. Cheer louder. Show some grace.

Because youth sports don't need more critics.

They need more gratitude.
