📢We are officially 4 MONTHS out from The Big Hurt!

Now is the time to start gathering your squad - whether they are on your team, or a competitor in the iron division - start making a plan to join us in Port Angeles September 26th.

The Big Hurt is a multi-sport race that includes four legs and is unique in that all transitions are at the same location, making for an all-day party atmosphere. Even better, the transition is located at Pebble Beach Park on the beautiful waterfront in downtown Port Angeles.

Race legs include:
🚵‍♀️ A 15-mile mountain bike that takes place in the foothills above Port Angeles (10-mile mountain bike, 5 miles on road downhill to downtown Port Angeles race hub for transition to kayak leg)
💧 A 2.6-mile kayak in Port Angeles Harbor
🚴‍♂️A 30-mile road bike that goes west out of Port Angeles and crosses the Elwha River and visits Freshwater Bay, as well as the lower parts of Kelly Ridge on Dan Kelly and Eden Valley Roads.
🏃‍♀️ A 10K Run, out and back on the Olympic Discovery Trail along the waterfront

🚴‍♂️ LEG 3: ROAD BIKE

30 miles of rolling rural roads through Clallam County with views that almost make you forget your legs are burning. Almost. 😅

This leg takes riders west of Port Angeles across the Elwha River, through Freshwater Bay, and along portions of Dan Kelly and Eden Valley Roads. Fast sections. Climbs. Beautiful scenery.

Expect rolling hills, rural roads, and incredible views as riders head west out of Port Angeles toward Freshwater Bay and back.

⚠️ Roads remain open to vehicle traffic — riders must follow all rules of the road.

🚣‍♂️ LEG 2: KAYAK

The second leg of The Big Hurt sends racers into the waters of Port Angeles Harbor for a 2.6-mile kayak course with mountain views in every direction.

And yes… the US Coast Guard brings the tunes and encouragement out on the water 👏

⚠️ No paddleboards/SUPs allowed. To maintain high standards for fairness and safety in this race, all boats must pass the safety inspection on race day. All racers must comply with the following safety rules or be subject to disqualification.
