WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO US?
We’re a local family of five with three young children (ages 7, 5, and nearly 3). Our oldest has attended PRPS for 4 years (preK-2), during which the enrolment has dropped from 17 students (COVID years) to just 5. Our child has spent over half her school experience without a peer in her grade. She’s been asked to participate academically and socially with older grades, often beyond her developmental abilities. She’s missed out on foundational opportunities to connect, play, and learn with same-age peers.
Our son starts kindergarten in September 2025. If he attends PRPS, he will be the only kindergartener, sharing a classroom with four Grade 2 students. He’ll face the same challenges: no peers, no kindergarten foundation, and inappropriate social expectations.
This year, no new students enrolled. If this trend continues, PRPS could face two consecutive years with zero new enrolments. Will there even be a school for your child in the future?
This message is not in association with Blaine School District.
See you on January 10th
