Our February Feature is a talented and experienced musician and a lifelong Michigander. Jim Bertin picked up the guitar at age 12 and has been playing it ever since! He started with folk music, then got into rock in the 60's and segued into classical guitar in the 70's. Getting back to folk music, Jim paired up with a bass player named George and they played all over the state and into Canada. In 1989, Jim opened a venue at St. William's Church in Walled Lake called "Off-The-Wall-Acoustic Coffee House" which lasted 20 Seasons! We are delighted to have Jim on our stage for a 30-minute set beginning at 8:00 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/share/1HUE1k2BKV/
Charlie Cogo will be the Host for us this month. Many of you are familiar with Charlie as a member of the group Rise Again. They have been involved with BaseLine from the very beginning. We asked Charlie to host because of his charismatic charm and knew he would do a great job presenting and making all the musicians feel at home. As host, Charlie will sing 2 songs with Rise Again and introduce the performers throughout the evening.
Also attached is a flyer for United Way's February Hygiene Drive which the Plymouth Community Arts Council is participating in and they have asked us to please bring items for this cause on the 21st. It is not a prerequisite to admittance into BaseLine but an opportunity to assist someone in need. As John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote, "I Get by with a Little Help from My Friends." There is a drop off box in the lobby to place donations.
One more note: The Executive Director of our event venue suggests you dress warm or in layers because, due to the extreme cold, the gallery temp has not gotten warmer than 66. But don't let that give you pause...66 feels quite warm coming in out of single digits! Right?
We truly hope to see you all on Saturday, February 21st. After all...the more body heat, the better! :) Be well and be safe.
