Placitas Studio Tour Thanks to the overwhelming success of the Placitas Studio Tour, the tour is now a three-day event! Brochures will be available at all studio sites.

Studios will be open 10am-5pm all three days of the tour. Placitas Studio Tour Artists will be opening their studios to the public for the Placitas Studio Tour, Mother's Day weekend, May 13-14, 2023. Enjoy the scenic views of the Sandias as you visit the different areas of Placitas to see the diverse studios of artists. The workshops ar

e as fascinating and varied as the creative artists who work in them. Ceramics, woodworking, glass art, jewelry, mosaics, sculpture, metalwork, paintings, mixed media and more will be part of this behind the scenes peek at the artistic life of Placitas. For an early look at who is on the tour this year go to the website http://www.placitasstudiotour.com, where you can view the different artwork as well as the map to all the studios. Directions from I-25: take exit #242 and head east to Placitas on Highway 165. Follow the colorful yellow signs directing you to the studios that will be open.

Bravo, Katherine! Please join me in congratulating Katherine Irish! In her own words:

I was awarded the distinction of Eminent Pastelist from the International Association of Pastel Societies. This award is truly one of the highlights of my life. I want to thank Richard McKinley and Shirley Anderson, the President and Vice President of IAPS for their tireless efforts at maintaining the highest quality and the integrity of this organization over the last several years. It was such thrill to share the last week with hundreds of extremely talented pastel artists from all over the world. It was a week of shared ideas and enthusiasm. Thank you to all the volunteers who have made these events and art careers possible due to our tireless efforts to promote the arts. Without you none of this would have happened. Now after such glorious week - back to my easel!!

Happy Mother’s Day from all the artists, sponsors, and friends of the Placitas Studio Tour, nestled in the northern foothills of the Sandia Mountains, in New Mexico.

Today marks the final day of the 29th annual Placitas Studio Tour, showcasing some of the Southwest’s most beautiful and unique art.

Waiting for you are stunning creations in jewelry, fiber, pottery, steel, ceramics, painting, gourds, sculpture, glass, wood, collage, photography, bronze, and mixed media, all available for purchase directly from the artists.

Sixty-two Placitas artists located at forty-eight unique studios/workshops will be open 10am-5pm this final day of the tour.

The tour is free, self-guided and self-driven.
