🍁🍁🍁Sugarhouse update! 🍁🍁🍁

Fall has arrived at the sugarhouse! Things have been fairly business-as-usual around here this summer with a few small changes. First, we are no longer offering fresh eggs or maple cream - we apologize to anyone who is disappointed about this! We are also taking a break temporarily from making ice cream but don’t worry, it will make a comeback eventually!

In the meantime when you stop in you still have a full selection of maple syrup in plastic and glass containers. Lindsay also restocked the soap cupboard with fall scents from The Sudsy Cow! There is a nice selection of beef to choose from and there are still Matras Maple t-shirts and sweatshirts available!

Can’t make it to the Deerfield Fair? Pick up artwork and notecards by Gene Matras here at the sugarhouse! But by all means, do what you can so you don’t miss the Deerfield Fair!!

Sugarhouse is open every Monday - Saturday (closed Sundays) from 9 am - 6 pm. Thank you for your support!

We’ve been quiet on here but the sugarhouse has been busy! Thanks to everyone who has stopped in for ice cream and other goodies this summer, your support means so much!

Right now at the sugarhouse:

Sugaring wood for the 2027 season is DONE! This might be the earliest we’ve ever had wood neatly stacked away in the shed…we aren’t going to complain!

We currently have space to take on a few additional weekly milk customers. If you are interested in picking up fresh raw milk from the sugarhouse weekly please message us and we can send you more information! Thank you for supporting our small dairy!

Dear fantastic customers - we so appreciate your support of the sugarhouse! As we grow we do have some housekeeping we need to address however.

1) Please understand that when you visit the sugarhouse the business is located on a private residence. We expect you to be respectful of that and respect the privacy of the people who live there. If you have a question is NO need to go in search of someone to help you at the house or anywhere on the property; phone numbers for contact people are at both the sugarhouse and are available for Asa’s Small Engine Repair business.

2) Designated parking is in front of Asa’s shop. We will do better about signs in the future, but in the meantime please use the pull-in parking in front of the shop. If you have mobility issues you are welcome to park close to the sugarhouse but otherwise we ask to use the pull-in parking and not block the driveways as these are used by the people who live on the property. We’ve seen bikes left in the middle of the driveway and all kinds of various parking that blocks access or limits other customers from being able to park as well.

We really appreciate the support you give to the sugarhouse and we hope this helps things run smoother for the future! Thank you for being considerate.

Wood for the 2027 sugaring season is already started! We are about halfway done re-filling the woodshed. We love heating our evaporator in this sustainable way and the extra good flavor it gives to our maple syrup. A lot of the wood we put up is slab wood left over from sawing boards and miscellaneous wood from trimming trees in the sugarbushes or around our property.
