Join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum on Thursday, July 2nd for our annual Americana Concert centered around American music in tribute to our military personnel and veterans! 🪖🫡

The concert is from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, and doors will open at 5:45 PM.

This piece of furniture used to be crucial or orderly record keeping, but is now rarely used. Two are still used here at Soldiers & Sailors for a specific purpose that has to do with the walls of our museum.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Memorial Day Ceremony & Celebration! The sun came out just in time to shine down on us as we celebrated and remembered the sacrifices of all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We wanted to share a few of our favorite photos from this year's celebration, and we welcome you to share your photos in the comments as well! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

We also had music provided by DJ Teddy T., Camp Chase Fifes and Drums- Members, Friends and Fans, and our USCT Drum Corps as well as personal collections presented by Clint Geller and Brian & Alisha Shupe! The event was hosted by our friend, Pittsburgh Radio Personality Mike Frazier.

Following an act of Congress in the wake of WWII, Gold Star Family pins like the one seen here were made to identify families who lost loved ones in the war. Later, the Gold Star pins would be issued to the families of those lost in all American conflicts.

This pin was presented to John J. Pinder, Sr. after the passing of his son, Medal of Honor Recipient John J. Pinder, Jr. The pin was present to Pinder, Sr. at Forbes Field prior to the Pirates vs. Cardinals game on May 30th, 1948, which was Memorial Day. The Pinder family was the first family in Western Pennsylvania to receive a Gold Star Family pin.

Join us TOMORROW for our Annual Memorial Day Ceremony & Celebration! 🇺🇸

From 11 AM to 4 PM, enjoy family-friendly activities, contests, live musical performances, an all day tribute to fallen post-9/11 veterans from Pennsylvania, and free admission to our museum including special exhibits just for Memorial Day! We are also observing a national moment of silence at 3 PM.

Hosted by Pittsburgh Radio Personality, Mike Frazier, the celebration also includes food and drink available for purchase on site! This event is free to attend (rain or shine!), and there is free street-level parking available directly across the street from the Museum on Bigelow Boulevard!

Help us celebrate and "Honor them with your presence" this Memorial Day! 🫡

As part of our Annual Memorial Day Ceremony & Celebration on Monday, May 25th, we will have two friendly competitions: our Captain Kraus' Challenge for children and our Corn Bread Eating Contest!

Spot by the celebration for your chance to participate in these contests with prizes provided by Raising Cane's, Forsythe Miniature Golf & Snacks, Waterworks Cinemas, Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse, Laser Storm Pittsburgh, and Idlewild & SoakZone!
