First Waves

First Waves A movement of young river surfers, filmmakers, and conservationists. This project supported in part by the Hive Fund for Connected Learning at The Sprout Fund.

First Waves is an initiative that incorporates teaching teens facing adversity ages 15 to 18 to surf and standup paddleboard on local waterways, while simultaneously providing a hands-on education about film-making and environmental/ecological issues that are present in our waterways. The ambition of the program is to inspire a passion for waterway conservation through the exhilaration and joy of catching their first waves.
