In 1870 Black, White and Native folk in Pittsburgh marched to celebrate the end of Chattel Slavery and the beginning of Black Voting Rights in the United States... This original Parade was called the Grand Jubilee of Freemen Parade where over 5,000 people marched from Downtown, to the lower Hill, back Downtown to the North and held a memorial at Allegheny Commons Park East, and then back downtown to Market Square... On SAT JUNE 20TH, starting at 11am, we will host the Juneteenth-Grand Jubilee Parade in honor of the End of Chattel Slavery and Black Voting Rights which are under attack in America, from Freedom Corner through Downtown Pittsburgh on to Point State Park where we will host a ceremony highlighting our new enslavement in this American system... We need you to line the Streets and Join Us inside Point State Park... Spread the Word and SAVE THE DATE...

PITTSBURGH and surrounding areas we are in a time where the Federal Government is trying to STOP VOTING in America... In 1870 Black folks in Pittsburgh created the Grand Jubilee Parade to celebrate U.S. Voting Rights, where some 5,000 Black & White people participated in that march... In 2016 we started our Juneteenth - Grand Jubilee Parade in honor of our original 1870 event ... Join us on SATURDAY JUNE 20TH as we march to sustain our Freedoms in North America during the annual Juneteenth Celebration... To participate as an organization or group, email: [email protected] ... To watch the Parade, lineup at 11AM on Center Ave, Fifth Ave or Liberty in Downtown Pittsburgh... We need the WHOLE COMMUNITY to participate in this event... Some feel that the Point is just not for us! Well, we continue to demand to celebrate Juneteenth in that location BECAUSE in 1758, when Gen. Forbes fought the battle to take that area from the French and re-named it "FORT PITT - and later Pittsburgh", some 42 Black Men fought with Forbes to create this City... We have been here from the beginning, and choose to reclaim our time!!! Don't NEVER EVER let someone tell you that you don't belong! Just because EVERYDAY is Black History... Do you know that in Philadelphia years ago they put up a memorial statue of Octavius V. Cato, Black activist and Voting Rights Leader who led the first Black trolley (bus) boycott and was murdered by Whites for encouraging Black folk to Vote in Pennsylvania... But for years, I've talked to people about a memorial statue for the great Pittsburgh leader Martin R. Delany, a Black Nationalist Leader who learned to be a doctor in Pittsburgh and saved lives here, traveled to Africa to find land for Black folks to return home, was assigned the first Black Police Deputy in America to protect Black folks from racist mobs in Downtown Pittsburgh, who became the first Black U.S. Army Major during the Civil War and who also created the first Black newspaper in Pittsburgh called the Mystery News Letter with Frederick Douglass... We are going to stay on this mission of having Abolitionist/Doctor/Police Deputy/Black Nationalist/Major Martin R. Delany properly recognized by this City as Pittsburgh is a very hard place for Black folk to get credit... Pittsburgh Black Heritage Celebration
