About The Veterans Leadership Program… The Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania empowers veterans to navigate the transition of life. VLP was founded in 1982 by local Vietnam Veterans during a time when the steel mills were closing and the manufacturing jobs in the region were disappearing, leaving many veterans out of work. That’s when local veterans stepped up to become leaders in their communities, helping fellow vets experiencing unemployment, homelessness, and other obstacles upon returning home from military service.

Over the past 35 years, VLP has developed and implemented a comprehensive program which onsists of three essential services: HOUSING ASSISTANCE, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, and other SUPPORTIVE SERVICES.

Housing Assistance. Our rapid andcomprehensive housing programs provide vital assistance to veterans experiencing homelessness with finding, scuring, and keepign a safe and affordable residence through personalized placement plans, rental assistance, and intensive case management.

Employment Services. VLP works with over 250 area employers to provide employment assistance to veterans experiencing unemployment with a broad skills assessment, job search plans, career objectives, and a full translation of military skills to best convey applicable xperiences.
