Yesterday, I let a version of myself die.

In a moment of extreme disappointment, embarrassment, & pain, I found something unexpected. My power. My grace. A level of self-love I had never known.

Just shy of 50, I looked in the mirror & truly saw the imperfect, flawed, beautifully human woman staring back.

I had choices to make.

I leaned into my magic, my mental health, my physical well-being, & most importantly, myself.

Last night, I sat surrounded by loving people who had no idea a part of me was dying. An old version carrying punishment, shame, & things I could no longer allow to define me.

This morning, I woke knowing decisions had to be made. Final. Honest. Rooted in love, not fear.

I had to stop punishing myself.

I had to choose forgiveness.

I had to reclaim my power & commit to my healing & transformation.

I don’t share this for pity, concern, or reassurance.

I share because I am meant to hold a light, & the most powerful way to lead is by example.

I sit with beautiful souls in their darkest moments. I hold space for their pain, shame, & healing. They deserve to know I have those moments, too.

Being a healer doesn’t mean I’m without wounds. Being a teacher doesn’t mean I’ve mastered every lesson. Being spiritual doesn’t make me less human.

It means I choose how I walk through it.

This was the hardest night into day I have ever faced.

I hate that things happened. I hate that I arrived here through pain. But I refuse to let any of it be for nothing.

Today, I chose to see myself fully.

Not just the easy parts, but the flawed, messy, wounded, magical woman in her entirety.

I chose to repair a few more pieces.

I chose to forgive what I cannot change.

I chose to love even the parts I once believed were unworthy.

There is a different kind of magic in that.

Not the magic of changing what happened, but deciding what happens next.

This is also my accountability post.
Trembling as I write, this is true vulnerability.

There is something I think we need to talk about more openly in the healing & spiritual community:

Practitioners are allowed to charge for their work. 💜

I say this as someone who has struggled with this lesson throughout my 25 years in practice.

For a long time, part of me felt that if I was given the ability to help someone, I should simply help. That putting a price on healing or spiritual work somehow made it less sacred.

Over the years, I’ve learned that it doesn’t.

I’ve also learned a harder lesson:

The times I undervalued my own work were often the times it was appreciated the least.

When I gave too much, charged too little, or treated my own time and energy as though they weren’t valuable, I unintentionally taught others to see them that way too.

Most of us understand value through money. When someone financially invests in their healing, education, reading, ceremony, or spiritual growth, they are also saying:

This matters to me. I am choosing to invest in this.

And practitioners bring value to that exchange: years of education, training, experience, preparation, tools, supplies, continuing education, rent, & the energy given before, during, & after the work.

One of my greatest lessons in 25 years has been that giving from the heart does not mean giving everything away.

There is a difference between generosity and undervaluing yourself. There is a difference between being of service & sacrificing yourself to serve.

Sometimes energy exchange is generosity. Sometimes it’s barter. Sometimes it’s simply showing up for someone we love.

And sometimes, it’s money.

Putting a value on my work doesn’t diminish my gifts. It honors the years I’ve spent developing them & allows me to continue offering them.

We can serve others AND support ourselves.
We can be generous AND have boundaries.
We can honor our gifts AND honor their value.

Sacred work is still work. And when we value our own work, we teach others to value it too. ✨🦌 Just thought someone else might need to hear this 😘
