n alone. Most participants will tell you that this is the most beautiful Half Marathon course they have run, as challenging to boot. If you're a fan of golf, just the word "Pinehurst" will be enough to evoke memories of Phil Mickelson's narrow, one-shot loss to Payne Stewart here at the 1999 United States Open golf championship, which was played on the legendary Pinehurst No. 2 course. Open in 2005, when New Zealand's Michael Campbell walked away with the trophy, and hosts the Open for a third time in 2014. The race -- which is hosted by First Health of the Carolinas hospitals -- will follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes in Cannon Park, which lies just to the north of the famed golf course where the Open is played. From there, the course winds through mostly residential neighborhood streets of the village of Pinehurst and the Pinehurst Resort. In the stretches around the middle miles of the race, golf fans will find the street names quite familiar, as they run along Burning Tree Road, Diamondhead Drive and St. Runners can expect much of the course to offer ample shade, as the route will make its way largely through residential areas as well as around stretches of Pinehurst Lake, and past several fairways within the neighborhoods that make up the golf resort. The course is certified by USATF-RRTC (USA Track and Field, Road Running Technical Council).

🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Running for a Cause: Join Us in Giving Back! 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️

We’re excited to announce that this year, our Turkey Trot is not only about pushing physical limits but also about making a positive impact in our community! Every participant will now be "Running for a Cause," and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

For each race entry, we’ll be donating $1 to Women of the Pines, a fantastic local organization that supports the sick, hungry, homeless, and abused. They also provide scholarships to students at Sandhills Community College who need financial assistance. You can learn more about their work here: https://womenofthepines.org

In addition, we’re encouraging everyone to bring non-perishable food items to the race to support the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. These donations will go directly to families in need in Lee, Moore, Richmond, and Scotland counties, helping those facing food insecurity, especially during the holidays. Whether it’s canned goods, pasta, or cereal—every bit helps!

Let’s come together to race toward a healthier and more compassionate community. Thank you for your support! 💙
