Congratulations to Michael… he came back to the drift this year to finish it off. Glad we could be part of his journey! We heard he wanted to run it back and do them all again… so what do you say Michael, 2027?

Congratulations to Michael Ortiz, age 43, from Brooklyn, New York, who finished his 100th race of at least 100 miles on July 26, 2026, at the Next Loop 100 in Roland, Arkansas. He became the 39th person in the world to reach this milestone. In addition, he accomplished finishing a 100-mile race in all 50 states.

Michael started running in 2012 and ran his first ultra in 2014. To push himself harder, he set a goal to complete 100 100-milers in 100 consecutive weeks in all 50 states, a challenge he called the Game of Hundos. This resulted in 43 official 100-mile finishes in 2019, and including unofficial 100s, he reached a streak of 69 weeks when the pandemic shutdown occurred. To continue, he set up a 40-foot track in his Brooklyn apartment and live-streamed 60 hours of running 13,200 loops around this track to complete 100 miles. After his Game of Hundos ended, Michael continued his journey to reach 100 official 100-mile finishes in order to join the 100x100 Club.

Well, 2027 will be one for the books.... We are happy to announce that the 2027 100-mile race will be a snow machine race! The Sno Pokes have worked so hard supporting us over the years that it is time to return the favor.

Ginny Robbins has agreed to be the head Mechanic and will patrol the course on her bike. "I am happy to help out the snow pokes in their race. I got a new ratchet set for Christmas and I'm excited to try it out. I am doing squats all year in preparation for towing out those machines when they break down."

Duke Edwards was given the opportunity to race on the Hull's 23 year old machine and he said "103 miles, I don't even like to drive that far!" He did ask if he could still make pizzas even though the race is slated to take a total of 3 hours. As a side note, even if the race is done by 1 p.m. on Friday we won't bring Duke back out until Sunday at the request of his wife.
