First Responder's Appreciation First Responder's Day is a yearly event set up to celebrate the heroes in our community.

It's a great way to show support for those who serve and protect our community with a special ceremony, First Responder parade, and fun activities for everyone!

The Cuffs & Hoses Block Party is coming to Downtown Pikeville on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM, and we’re looking for vendors, food trucks, local businesses, and non-profit organizations to join the fun!

Whether you sell handmade crafts, boutique items, specialty foods, desserts, or represent a local organization, we’d love to have you be part of this exciting event!

On June 2, 2026, the Pike County Grand Jury met and returned 18 felony indictments and 1 misdemeanor indictment. An indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. A guide to some of the acronyms we use can be found here:

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 1:45 PM, the Pikeville Fire Department was dispatched to Myers Towers for a reported oxygen cylinder fire.

While responding, crews were advised that the burning equipment had been moved from the apartment into the hallway. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly deployed to the fire floor with portable extinguishers while additional personnel brought equipment from responding apparatus.

After investigation, crews determined the burning equipment was an oxygen concentrator, not an oxygen cylinder. The fire was producing visible black smoke from the D-side of the structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with a portable extinguisher, preventing further extension and damage.

Fortunately, no injuries and no additional property damage were reported.

Kentucky’s Free Fishing Weekend is happening THIS weekend, June 6-7, 2026!

For one weekend only, anyone is allowed to fish without a license or permit. Whether you're visiting from outside the state or you live in Kentucky, the free fishing weekend is open to all.

It's a great time to grab a fishing pole and enjoy spending time with family and friends at the state's beautiful lakes, streams, and rivers!

• This is open to ​both Residents and Nonresidents.
• No License is needed for this weekend ONLY.
