On behalf of the Wayne County Journal-Banner, we extend our heartfelt sympathy as we mourn the loss of our longtime employee and friend, Kim Combs.

Kim joined the newspaper in August 1990 as a reporter and, through her dedication and hard work, advanced to manage the Wayne County Journal-Banner as well as several other newspapers throughout southeast Missouri. Over the course of more than 35 years, she became a respected leader in the newspaper industry and a familiar face in the communities she served.

Kim was a devoted Christian, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. More than anything, she loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. She is survived by her husband, Scott; her daughter, Addison; her grandson, Sutton, age 2; and a granddaughter, Sawyer, who is expected this summer. She also leaves behind her sister, Cindy; her parents, Dale and Glenda; and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Kim cared deeply about her community and was involved in many local organizations over the years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, traveling, and making memories with her family. She will be remembered for her honesty, strong work ethic, kindness, and humble nature.

The loss of Kim is deeply felt throughout the community. We ask that you keep Scott, Addison, Cindy, Dale, Glenda, and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you, Kim, for your many years of dedication, service, and friendship. Your contributions to the Wayne County and Reynolds County communities will not be forgotten.

Give me your thoughts and also include any suggestions you would like to see as we move forward this summer? You can message here or email at [email protected]
