The Phoenix Film Festival had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with LEVITICUS director Adrian Chiarella and stars Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen to discuss subverting horror tropes, building intimacy amidst terror, and taking a special look at each of their "handshake five" cinema choices.

It is a rare and exceptional feat when a filmmaker manages to seamlessly layer a terrifying supernatural horror tale with a tender, coming-of-age q***r love story. Yet, that is exactly what director Adrian Chiarella accomplishes in his striking feature debut, Leviticus . While this marks Chiarella

🎬 Today is the final day of $50K in 40 Days.

When we launched this campaign, our goal was ambitious because the need is real.

Over the past 40 days, members of our community have stepped up to support filmmakers, students, film education, and year-round programming across Arizona. To everyone who donated, shared a post, or helped spread the word: THANK YOU.

While this campaign may be coming to an end, the work continues.

The Phoenix Film Foundation will keep supporting storytellers, creating opportunities for students, bringing audiences together, and championing independent film long after today.

If you've been meaning to make a gift, there's still time to be part of this campaign. And if we haven't reached our goal by midnight, we'll keep moving forward, because these programs, these filmmakers, and this community are worth fighting for.

Your support makes a difference.

🎬 72 hours left. We'll be honest: we're not where we hoped to be.

BUT we still believe in this community. For more than 25 years, the Phoenix Film Foundation has supported filmmakers, students, and audiences who believe in the power of storytelling. Today, we're asking for your help to continue that work.

If you've been considering a gift, there's never been a more important time.

We’re entering the final week of our $50K in 40 Days campaign.

So far, this incredible community has helped raise $16,090 to support the Phoenix Film Foundation’s year-round programs, including film education, filmmaker support, community screenings, workshops, and events.

We’re grateful for every dollar raised, but we still have a long way to go.

As public arts funding continues to shrink, organizations like ours increasingly rely on support from people who believe storytelling, creativity, and community matter.

If the Phoenix Film Festival, Film Society, a screening, workshop, panel, or educational program has ever impacted you, we hope you'll consider making a gift before the campaign ends.

Every donation helps.

There’s just over a week left in our $50K in 40 Days campaign, and while we’re grateful for every donation that has come in so far, we still have a long way to go.

Every gift helps support students finding their voice, filmmakers sharing their work, and audiences coming together around stories that matter.

Your support fuels:
• film education programs
• opportunities for independent filmmakers
• community screenings and events throughout the year

As public arts funding continues to shrink, support from our community becomes even more important.

If you’ve been meaning to give, now is the time. Every donation helps move us closer to the finish line and ensures these programs can continue serving Arizona's film community.

This is the Phoenix Film Festival. The movie lovers who fill the theaters. The friends who make a night of it. The laughter, reactions, conversations, and shared moments that happen between the opening scene and the final credits.

For us, it’s always been about bringing people together through film and creating an experience that feels bigger than just watching a movie.

Here’s a little glimpse into the energy, excitement, and community that make this festival so special year after year.

If Phoenix Film Festival has ever inspired you, entertained you, connected you, or simply given you a place to belong, now’s the time to support it. As we work toward our $50K in 40 Days goal, we’re asking this community to help keep that magic going.
