Proclamation Honoring Miguel Alvarado and the Intimidations Car Club, Town of Guadalupe

Produced by: Gil Bivens, Coproduced by: Roman P. Reyes, Latino USA Media, LLC, Latino USA TV, Organizer: Betty Cruz

Some men build stages. Others build communities.
Miguel Alvarado is both.
Through the Guadalupe Car Show, he didn't just organize an event โ€” he created a gathering place where culture lives, fathers bring sons, and the roar of an engine speaks the language of pride and belonging. The Intimidations Car Club stands beside him, a brotherhood forged in steel, loyalty, and love for this community.
And now, their story belongs to American history.
Thanks to U.S. Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, Miguel Alvarado, the Intimidations Car Club, and the entire Guadalupe community have been permanently etched into the United States Congressional Record โ€” not just honored locally but enshrined in the history of this nation. Forever.
When the crowd honored him, Alvarado turned to his people and said it best:
"Not me โ€” it's all of you guys. Because without you guys, there's no Guadalupe Car Show."
That is the soul of Guadalupe.

The intense preparation for embodying Tony Montana, including daily immersion in a room of guns and smoke, highlights the dedication required for such a powerful character. Lines like 'Say hello to my little friend' and Al Pacino's iconic performance make it a role every actor envies.

For years, this work has been my life. My Tejano grandparents and parents were migrant farm workers, a history I carry with pride. The movement began in the fields, fueled by the strength of women and men who fed our nation. Their fight for change, for a better future for their children, continues.
