Good evening AZ Amateur’s Tour Players!

We wanted to share that we truly appreciate the support that this tour has had! When we first started this journey we knew it could be something great and it was!! Last year’s tour was a reflection of this pool community dedication and passion for the sport! And not only drawing attention from Arizona, but many other states…New Mexico, Nevada, California, North Dakota, Colorado and many others we are forgetting!

As much as we wanted this season to happen, we are putting this season on hold. In the past we had to reschedule, shuffle around and make a modified season to adjust to the shutdown due to Covid. It’s not fair to sponsors and certainly not fair to players to pick and choose events for a modified season. We didn’t want the players to miss out on the Arizona Amateur’s Tour and put a strain or pressure on the players to miss out on getting tour points.

Since we haven’t quite seen the end of Covid and it’s impacts on attendance, we feel it best to take this year and prepare for an even greater and bigger season in 2023! So for now we will continue to promote the Arizona Amateur’s Tour and have events leading up to the new and improved tour! So keep an eye out for sponsored We Play Billiards and Arizona Amateur’s Tour events!

Much love and we look forward to seeing you at upcoming events and be ready for 2023!!

Good evening, Tour Members and Sponsors!

WOW!! Talk about having a Finale! Thank you to all 105 players who made it out to Main Street Billiards on Saturday for the 7th event we hosted: The FINALE!

Congratulations to "4 losses in 10 minutes" Duncan Weiss on coming back from losing his very first match in the tournament to end up battling Alicia De Leon in the Finals. Alicia had made her way through to the Hot Seat and finished as the top female shooter for the event! Part of what made this post difficult was giving our Finale Champ the proper respect detailing the endeavor he had to go through to get to the finals against Alicia. He made a wonderful post explaining his journey (including 14 wins to being Finale Champ) and we congratulate him on job well done! Please check out his page and personally congratulate him! In this Finale post we didn't want to just take the time to congratulate Duncan on his amazing accomplishment; but also, all the Tour Stop Champs.

The first event we had was at Bull Shooters back in February of 2020 where Cory Wheeler became the first Tour Stop Champ. After our first stop we were faced with the challenges presented by the pandemic. We had to work through these challenges by changing the entire schedule we had! In reality, we are incredibly honored to have been able to start back up over a year later in May of 2021 at Main Street Billiards where Champ Tony Yuzuik was victorious at Stop 2. Next, we traveled down to Tucson in June to play at Pocket's Pool & Pub where Jahnythan Craig won our first big table event and title of Tour Stop No.3 Champ. Part of the complications of this event was losing 2 of the locations we had scheduled for events... Thankfully Michael J. Bates stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park allowing us to have our next 3 and final tour stops before the Finale at Bull Shooters. The events alternated with 10-ball on the 7ft, 9-ball on the 9ft and then finally 10-ball on the 7ft tables again. Congratulation to Champ Hugo Villanueva for winning Tour Stop No.4 back in July and your accomplishment! Congratulations to Champ Brandon Jewell for winning Tour Stop No.5 back in August! Special shout out to Brandon because this was his first big tournament and he snapped it off! The last stop before the Finale we had something nobody thought would happen, a repeat Champ! Congratulation to Jahnythan Craig for winning Tour Stop No.6 in September!

Thank you, Michael J. Bates, Thor Skogan and Curtis Johnson, for accommodating our tour and having great venues with great service for our events!

Thank you, John Sanchez with Qual-Tech, for the adding $100 to every Second Chance Tournament on Sunday during the season!

For the Finale we have many to thank! First, a big thank you to Thor Skogan for the added $2000! Also, thank you to Craig Herman for adding an additional $300 to the Finale!

Robert Rinehart, for the added $200 and Sophia Renee Balancad for the added $50 to the Top Female Player of the Finale. Alicia De Leon was the recipient for these generous donations!

Thank you, Steven Lingafelter, for supporting the OG players of the tour. The recipient for this generous $100 donation was Joe Carminati!

Thank you, Christopher Negrin, donating $200 to the 8 players that were one out of the money! These players were Rich Mamerto, Eric Menard, Scott Volgelsburg, Tony Yuzuik, William Courtright, Kyle Drake, Matt Dawson, and Mike Howerton.

As always, thank you to our sponsors for supporting these events, we couldn’t do it without you!

At the event we took a vote amongst our players to vote on who would receive the Sportsmanship Award. The players spoke and nominated Cleveland Baylor Jr. for this award! Cleveland was awarded $250.

Congrats to the points leaders for the season!
Jahnythan Craig – 525 points ($1000)
Hugo Villanueva – 515 points ($750)
Aaron Horvath – 400 points ($500)

Our Top Female Player was Jay Succo ($250) and Top Junior Player was Jahnythan Craig ($250).

Congrats to all players!

As this season comes to an end, we are happy for the turn out & support and sad that it has come to an end. We have decided to take some time off before scheduling any future events. Again, we are so grateful for the support because this tour would not have been such a success without you and for that we thank you all again!

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in the future!

Hello Arizona Amateur’s Tour Players and Sponsors!

We are pleased to announce our FINALE will be hosted by Thor Skogan and his team at Main Street Billiards in Mesa, AZ!

Furthermore, we are very excited to announce that if you were able to participate in at least ONE event this modified season of play, you can still play in the Finale! We know it was difficult for many to attend more than one event due to the pandemic and the number of total Stops changing and events having to be cancelled early on. As a result, we made an executive decision and agreed you could still play in the Finale for higher tournament entry ($50 entry, instead of $30). This will increase the total payout and especially benefit players who have played in at least two events. Thank you everyone for understanding and we are excited to see you all!

Thank you in advance for your commitment to this season’s final event! We want the Finale to go as smooth as possible and this means minimal “day of” changes. To sign up and guarantee your spot for the Finale you must pay the $15 GF in advance. Please send your GF via PayPal, friends & family: [email protected] (If you pay Goods and Services, this won’t work).

This Green Fee is non-refundable and allows us to run your Finale with no Tournament Director Fees or One-Time Stop fees. (WooHoo!)

Good evening AZ Amateur’s Members and Sponsors,

Thank you to all 88 players in attendance for Tour Stop No.6 this past weekend at Bull Shooters.

This weekend started with difficult news of the passing of a friend and icon of the Arizona Pool Community, Bernie Store. Bernie was a top notch player, a mentor, a teammate, a friend, and so many other things to the people in her life. It was amazing to see the players in the event start to rally together and immediately start making donations. It didn’t take long for word to spread and money was coming in for Bernie’s family from pool players and non-pool players alike. In total $1800 was raised and delivered to the family today. It was so amazing to see the unity of everyone giving to help the family. We wanted to thank everyone who contributed but realize it’s almost impossible to not miss someone, others may have given knowing there was a level of privacy involved and in short must simply thank everyone for whatever form of support you’ve shown. Thank you so much for the generosity from all!

Even though the room was on a mission to help raise money; there was still another mission to accomplish this weekend, Tour Stop No.6 Champion, the last stop of the season.

Congratulations to our Tour Stop No.6 Champion, Points Leader, Top Junior, and Champion of Tour Stop No.4 Jahnythan Craig! (That’s a mouthful!)

Jahnythan went undefeated through the winners side with the final match coming down to a battle between Tour Stop No.3 Champ vs Tour Stop No.4 Champ Hugo Villanueva. Jahnythan won with a final score of 6-3! Congratulations again on your victory and all those new Titles!

As always, thank you to our sponsors for supporting these events, we couldn’t do it without you!
