This Wednesday, SoHA is proud to be hosting a fundraising concert for Dr. Melissa Bird for Congress. The concert features Ludicrous Speed (Rock-It Ska) from Corvallis, Heart Matter (Jazz Informed Indie) from San Francisco, and the Justoneus Collective (Progressive Folkrock) from Corvallis. It's an impressive offering of musical mastery to get you out onto the dance floor. We have a real dance floor as well as comfy couches to just chill out on. Dr. Bird represents heart centered, people first, working class values, and SoHA is proud to endorse her run for Congress on the Democratic ticket.

Dr. Melissa Bird is running for Congress in Oregon’s 4th District (the Congressional District where SoHA is located). Bird is a parent, a trained social worker, and descendent of the Shivwits Band of Paiutes in Utah. She’s also the spouse of a federal employee who lost his job amidst widespread research cuts. As a working mom, she’s faced job loss, tough financial decisions, and the stress of making ends meet. She believes policy should reflect real experiences, not political games. Melissa is stepping up to serve, listen, and make sure the voices of this community are truly represented.
