It's June! It's Pride Month! 🌈 We got into the pride spirit a little early this year: Just over a month ago, our production of THE PROM was taking the stage and telling the story of a high schooler who just wanted to go to prom with her girlfriend, and the Broadway stars who came to help.

From Philadelphia to Illinois and around the world, we hope you have a great pride month! 🏳️‍🌈

We are sending a hearty congratulations to Lindsey Smiling ('03) as he was named the next Artistic Director of The Wilma Theater! An original member of the HotHouse Resident Acting Company, performing artist, and director, Smiling shares the theater’s core values and brings a bold artistic approach, ability to take risks, and a profound commitment to ensemble practice.

His appointment as sole Artistic Director embodies the Wilma’s commitment to the HotHouse, its audiences, and its 50-year legacy in Philadelphia. From Lindsey: "Over the last six years, the Wilma has gone through an important period of transition, thanks in large part to James Ijames ('06), Morgan Green, Yury Urnov, and Leigh Goldenberg. Their leadership has meant so much to the theater. Looking ahead, I'm excited to keep growing the Wilma's reach and ambition with the HotHouse Resident Acting Company at the heart of the work, in deep collaboration with the playwrights, directors, designers, and guest artists who shape every production alongside them.”

Congratulations, Lindsey! We're sure The Wilma Theater will go far under your leadership!

In honor of Memorial Day, Temple Theaters wants to pay tribute to all of those who have served in the military, including those who have lost their lives in service. We're looking back at our 2007 production of IN CONFLICT, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Philadelphia journalist Yvonne Latty.

Created and directed by Prof. Douglas C. Wager, the play is a collection of monologues that tell the first-hand accounts of Iraq War veterans, and (after its run in the Randall Theater), traveled to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Long Wharf Theatre and had a off-Broadway run in NYC.

We're getting ready for a summer of fun, and so are Camille Halaise ('26), Cecelia Jaskel, and Jeff Pfeiffer ('24) as they get ready for their June run of HEAD OVER HEELS! With Ilana Lo ('18) also onboard as the fight and intimacy director, this is gearing up to be the jukebox musical of the summer 🌞

HEAD OVER HEELS is the laugh-out-loud love story set to the music of the iconic 1980s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” A hilarious, exuberant celebration of love, this bold musical comedy follows the escapades of a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction – only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within each of their own hearts.🏳️‍🌈

Break legs, everyone! HEAD OVER HEELS runs from June 4th - 13th right here in Philadelphia. Get your tickets now if you haven't already!

We're hoping Lindsey Smiling ('03) breaks all the legs at tonight's first preview of THE AMERICA PLAY at The Wilma Theater! Lindsey directs and stars as the Foundling Father alongside some Philly-favorite Hot House actors 🔥

A Black Abraham Lincoln impersonator named the “Foundling Father,” runs “the Great Hole of History,” a tourist attraction where visitors can meet other historical lookalikes. The poetic repetition and evocative jazz-like style of this canonic text mimics the harmful patterns and toxic ideologies perpetuated throughout American history. THE AMERICA PLAY is a daring exploration of the fractured stories that shape our nation from one of our most prominent American playwrights, Pulitzer and Tony Award-winner, Suzan-Lori Parks.

Break legs, Lindsey! You can catch THE AMERICA PLAY right here in Philadelphia through the end of the month 🇺🇸
